Happy New Year! It’s 2016!  Usually, because of a new year, people often make resolutions. Whether it is eating healthy, exercising more, saving more money, etc., whatever your resolution might be, I hope and pray that you are able to stick with it!  But, I do have one question, “Where is God in your resolution?”  I hope and pray that you search for Him more in 2016.  He is always there, waiting and listening to you.

At SSBC we have been going through the Book of Matthew.  I would like to bring up a portion of God’s word and address two types of people. a.) Christian b.) Unsaved

Matthew 7:7-8: 7, says, “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

a.) Christian: So many times in this earthly body we are trying to be like Sherlock Holmes with a magnifying glass, looking and seeking for answers. Trying to find something that is exciting, something that is new, something that can fill an empty space in our life. Or maybe, we are letting the devil try to trick us into thinking that God doesn’t hear us.

Whatever the case might be, we are missing our very first step that is crucial in our walk with the Lord, and that is found in Matthew 7:7, and that is “ask Him.”  This is a command or a charger in the Greek context, so we should be on our hands and knees praying to our Heavenly Father first, before we get those magnifying glasses out!  For my brothers and sisters in Christ, may we walk around town with holes in the knees of our pants from praying and seeking God’s advice for this new year.

b.) Unsaved: The term unsaved simply means someone who has no relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. May you look and seek the door to find, as it says in Matthew 7:8, because Jesus is waiting for you to knock, and Jesus will open it for you right now, and for eternity.  Jesus says in John 10:7 “I assure you: I am the door of the sheep. The Mighty Savior of this life and for all eternity wants you to be apart of His flock in 2016. I pray that the Holy Spirit breaks down any walls you may have put up around your heart!

If you need help searching for that door (which is Jesus Christ), My brothers that are with Broken Shepherd, and I would love to visit with you about Jesus, and pray for You.

For His Kingdom, Dane Hernandez
